At the Jan Juc SLSC Annual General Meeting on Sunday 19 July, members proudly recognised 40 years of outstanding service and contribution from Jodie Reyntjes by unanimously approving her nomination for Life Membership.

Jodie joined Jan Juc as a Nipper in 1982/83 and has remained actively involved ever since. Her contribution has spanned lifesaving, Nippers, competition, fundraising, events, administration, governance, communications and community involvement.

After gaining her Bronze Medallion in 1986/87 and patrolling through to 1992/93, Jodie's focus shifted towards event management and administration. She has held numerous leadership roles, including Nipper Team Manager, Lifesaving Events Team Manager, competition official and judge, and Board Member - Fundraising & Sponsorship Director.

Jodie has also made an extraordinary contribution to some of the Club's longest-running events. She was involved with Danger 1000 for an incredible 27 consecutive years and has contributed to Bells Bash, Cycle to Surf and the Jan Juc Annual Golf Classic.

Her contribution to Club communications has also been significant, including managing the website, social media, newsletters and Annual Report when the Communications & Publications Manager position was vacant.

Jodie has been recognised throughout her time at the Club, including receiving the Rosemary Zuluaga Memorial Trophy for Most Outstanding Female Member in all areas three times.

Forty years of service is an extraordinary achievement, and Jodie's commitment to Jan Juc continues today. Congratulations, Jodie, and thank you for everything you have contributed to our Club. A very worthy Life Member!

A smoother run to the sand is coming to Jan Juc this summer.

Work is about to kick off on a new beach access ramp at Jan Juc SLSC, making it easier and safer for lifesavers, beachgoers and emergency vehicles to reach the beach.

The ramp will include a non-slip surface and handrail, with footings fixed into the underlying rock to create a stronger design for this dynamic stretch of coast.

The new design makes use of the existing ramp footprint before curving away from the ocean to run parallel with the beach, reducing the impact on surrounding dunes.

The ramp area and some nearby car parks will be closed during construction, but the Surf Club will remain open and other beach access points are available nearby.

Works will be complete by October, just in time for some sunny days.
